Tour overview

Another recently discovered trail is called the Tamang Heritage Trail which is mostly assccentuate because of Tamang people, one of Nepal’s ethnic groups. The Tamang Heritage Trekking trail passes through the characteristic Tamang towns as it travels between Langtang and Ganesh Himal. The eight-day walk offers a range of experiences. We enjoy a very easy circuit trip through scenic villages, terraced farms, and tranquil valleys on this simple route northward toward the Tibetan borderlands.
We will never forget the kind and warm environment provided by the Tamang people. More than that, it’s interesting to watch ritual performances, particularly shamanic ones. The major Nepalese festivals are observed in the same way by the Tamangs of the Rashuwa district, however they are heavily influenced by Tibetan culture. Their village’s primary culture is Tabu Shyakla or Ghoda Naach, which relates the tale of the conflict between Tibet and Nepal. The Ghoda Naach is parodied by using odd makeup and clothing. Deer Dance and Khampa Dance are two further Tamang dances performed in this area.
Starting at Dhunche or Syabrubenshi, the Tamang Heritage Trail travels through Goljung, Gatlang, Chilime, Thuman, Timure, and Briddam. Traditional Tamang villages include Gatlang and Goljung. There is a historic monastery in Goljung. A panoramic view of Langtang, Kerung, may be seen from the viewpoint at adjacent Bahundanda. Ranges called Ganesh Himal and Sanjen Himal. Gatlang is perched high on a hillside and offers access to a stunning Parvatikunda lake and Tamang monastery. On the way from Gatlang to Chilime, taking a hot, therapeutic bath in the Tatopani natural spring is a thrilling experience.
Briddam provides a cultural experience at a homestay organized by the community. The idea behind this location’s home stay program is to provide visitors the chance to get a taste of authentic Tamang culture by letting them stay with locals and eat meals prepared in their own kitchens. Locally elected social activists have formed a committee to oversee general management and tourist services. From Nagthali, one can also clearly see the Langtang, Kerung, Ganesh Himal, and Sanjen ranges. The local monks and priests used to frequent Nagthali as a place to meditate. The shamanic performances in Thuman are well-known. The ancient trading route from Timure to Tibet. Timure’s Rasuwagadhi Fort serves as a historical reminder of the long-standing ties between Nepal and Tibet. there you find a suspension bridge that connects Tibet with Nepal.
Therefore, the goal of the Tamang Heritage Trail Route is to experience authentic Tamang and Tibetan culture, including their way of life, customs, cuisine, and other aspects. Arak (local booze), Mustang coffee (local booze, coffee, and sugar mixed together and cooked), and Jhwain Khattee (local booze with butter and burned rice) are all must-haves along the Tamang Heritage Trail.

Itinerary

When you arrive at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport, a representative from Himkala Adventure warmly welcomes you and drives you to your accommodation. For the remainder of the day, you may rest. Stay the night in Kathmandu

After breakfast, we go on a guided tour of the city's World Heritage monuments. We will go to stupas, monasteries, and temples with magnificent medieval art and architecture. The ritualistic practices carried out by the locals in those locations and the monk circling the stupa while chanting mantras emit a peaceful and quiet energy. We return to the hotel after the city tour. Your guide will give you a briefing on the Tamang Heritage Trail that we will be hiking starting tomorrow. Stay the night in Kathmandu

After breakfast, we leave Kathmandu and travel till we reach the viewpoint, from which we get a good view of the Goshaikunda range, the Goljang valley, and Ganesh Himal. We go downhill until we reach the Giljang valley. The journey from the vantage point to the Goljang valley, where we have lunch, takes an hour. From Goljang to Gatlang, it will take another 3 hours of walking after this. Gatlang is one of the most picturesque Tamang villages. Spend the night at the local inn.

We travel to Thangbuchet by the Bhotekoshi River after breakfast. There is a hydropower dam in Chilime. We ascend after lunch by crossing a suspension bridge. We continue to ascend until we reach Tatopani. The location of the hot springs is Tatopani. Night at the inn

The moss-covered trees and vines in the amazing rhododendron forest that clings to the mountainside as you walk through it give your surroundings a distinctly "prehistoric" impression. However, Grey Langur Monkey soldiers are more likely to be encountered than dinosaurs. Before going up the hardest and highest portion of the trail, we arrive at the settlement of Brimdang. Ganesh Himal to the west and the Langtang range to the east are both visible from ever better ridges. About 45 minutes from Brimdang, the ridgeline ends atop the vast grasslands of Nagthali Hill.

After breakfast, take a climb to Taruche for breathtaking views of the Sanjen Ranges and the Tibetan sides of Langtang Lirung, Kerung, Ganesh Himal, and Shishapangma. It makes sense why monks found the hill to be the ideal location for reflection and meditation. Spend as much time as you like here admiring the scenery and relishing your sense of achievement. The next step is to make the 900-meter descent through dense forest to Thuman, where you can see Shisapangma and Langtang Lirung summit. The village's Shamanistic practices, historic monasteries, and dwellings decorated with woodcarvings all reflect a strong Tibetan influence.

Our hike today starts out on a flatter portion of the trail before descending to Timure. It partially follows the former trade route to Tibet, which is actually only a three-hour walk away. Nowadays, though, it is impossible to cross the border on foot, and there are numerous police officers stationed along the routes in this region. The walk continues to Briddim, another Tamang town, after lunch, where you'll stay in a local family's home for a really distinctive experience. You may be sure that your stay will benefit the entire community and not just a few enterprising families because all lodging, food, and services are provided at neighborhood homes on a rotating basis (as is sometimes the case with hotels and lodges).

Continue on the path through the mountainous area of Khangjim and Sherpagoan while learning more about the vibrant Tamang and Sherpa cultures. After descending through a pine grove, bushes go in the direction of Lama Hotel.

Today's short stroll back to Syabrubesi is easy. There, have lunch, and then unwind or explore in the late afternoon. Syabrubesi is a small village with a few businesses that sell regional handicrafts manufactured by women, like vibrant aprons and shawls made in the regional fashion.

We take the same way back to Kathmandu from Syabrubenshi. It takes 7-8 hours but is 117 kilometres. We travel along the Trishuli and Bhotekoshi River banks, but it is an exciting and adventurous trek. Check into the hotel and rest when we reach Kathmandu. Afternoon at Hotel

It is a free day, so you may visit the neighborhood Nepali market to buy goods that are typically Nepali, such as spices, clothing, and handicrafts. We can set up a day trip at your request if you want to take a detour through the Kathmandu Valley. Together with a traditional Nepalese cultural performance, we shall enjoy dinner. Afternoon at Hotel

Three hours before to the departure time of your flight, we bring you to the Tribhuvan International Airport. We thank you for participating in the Tamang Heritage Trek with Himkala Adventure before saying our final goodbyes at the airport.
